Three persons have been arrested in connection with a violent attack on the Nsuaem Police Station on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

According to a statement issued on Thursday, October 30, 2025, by the Regional Police Public Affairs Unit and signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police Beatrice Turkson, the attack was launched at the station following the detention of a 25-year-old man identified as Sulley Moses.

The suspect was arrested after residents accused him of attempting to lure two children, aged seven and five, to an unknown destination.

“Preliminary interrogations indicate that on Wednesday, 29th October, 2025, a group of about 15 men, accompanied by two children aged 7 and 5, brought to the station suspect Sulley Moses, aged 25, with a report that they had spotted him by the roadside near Nivo Filling Station conversing with the children,” the statement said.

“They suspected that he intended to lure the children to an unknown destination and, therefore, demanded police action.”

Police said the suspect was detained after the children confirmed that he had forcibly held them.

An angry mob numbering about 500, armed with stones and other offensive weapons, besieged the police station, demanding the suspect’s release.

They blocked the Takoradi–Tarkwa highway, set tyres ablaze, and threw stones at the police, damaging two vehicles, parts of the station building, and several impounded motorbikes.

The Regional Police Command said reinforcement teams, supported by the military, were quickly deployed to disperse the crowd and restore order.

“The police reinforcement team, with support from the military, dispersed the crowd and brought the situation under control.”

In the process, three police officers and four civilians sustained injuries and were treated at the Nsuaem Government Hospital.

One of the civilians was later referred to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, Sulley Moses, the suspect who was accused of luring the children, has been transferred to the Tarkwa Regional Police Headquarters for further investigation, while all officers at the Nsuaem Police Station have been relocated for safety reasons.

The police assured the public that they would investigate the matter and bring those who attacked the police station to justice.

“The suspect has since been transferred to the Tarkwa Regional Headquarters for further investigation. All officers at the Nsuaem Police Station have been relocated to a safe place, and the station has been temporarily closed down.”

“The Western Central Regional Police Command strongly condemns the attack and assures the public that all perpetrators will be identified, arrested, and brought to justice.”
