New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant Ken Ohene Agyapong has posited that it was about time the church took a bold step in declaring who should lead this country.
The former Member of Parliament for Assin Central made the remarks at the inauguration of the Eternal Life Church in Accra on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
Mr. Agyapong called on the Church to play a more assertive role in shaping Ghana’s political and moral direction.
He stated that Ghanaians no longer trust politicians but trust their prophets and church leaders, hence they should use the trust they have built over the years to encourage them to vote for people who can manage the country.
“The situation we are in now requires that the Church should be bold to come out and take directions on who should be the leader of this country,” he stated.
“We politicians have lied to the citizens of this country so many times that they have lost trust in us. But when men of God speak to them, they believe. That is why the Church must do more to help this country.”
He further called for collaboration between the church and politicians towards national development.
“The politicians and the Church should collaborate as partners for the development of this country,” he said. “I encourage the Church to work with politicians to help build this country through industrialisation.”
Meanwhile, he admonished the Church to invest in industries to create jobs for the people, especially their church members.
“The Church should invest part of its monies in creating jobs for its members,” he added, noting that sustainable national development required a shared sense of responsibility among all sectors.
He added, “When men of God speak, people listen. That is why I believe politicians and the Church must work hand in hand to achieve lasting progress for this country,” he said.
