The Ghana Gold Board, in conjunction with the Goldbod Taskforce and National Security operatives, has apprehended 25 individuals, including foreign nationals and Ghanaians, for engaging in illicit gold trading, smelting, and assaying.
Two separate operations conducted at Dome Pillar 2 and Akweteyman-Achimota resulted in the arrests, with the confiscation of over GHS 64,000 and USD 112,500 in cash, several gold bars, and other valuable exhibits.

According to the Board, all suspects have been granted police inquiry bail, while some have been arraigned before the court, and others remain under investigation.
Richard Nunekpeku, Esq., Deputy CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to sanitizing Ghana’s gold trade, emphasizing that all unlicensed gold dealings are prohibited and offenders will face full legal sanctions.
