Former Accra Hearts of Oak player, Yaw Amankwa Mireku, asserts that the club is an accomplished institution that has served as a haven for talent since its establishment 114 years ago.
He observed that the team has consistently nurtured talent, transformed lives, and established lasting legacies throughout its history.
Mireku was quick to point out, however, that despite these past glories, the team needs to progress significantly beyond its current state.
Speaking in an interview on Rainbow Sports, he stated: “The team should have made substantial progress and improvement in terms of performance and overall standards.”
Yaw Amankwa Mireku highlighted that the club has struggled in recent years, particularly regarding on-field performance.
He continued: “The team has regressed if one conducts a holistic analysis comparing its current state to its past. While this may not be entirely surprising, the most important focus now is how the team can best overcome its challenges and improve upon what we are witnessing today. The team was once formidable, but today, it is struggling. I believe those in charge must exert every effort to ensure the team restores its rightful position as the favourite.”
