Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister, has extended gratitude to Organised Labour, the Employers Association of Ghana, and workers for agreeing to the 9 percent increment in the minimum wage.
Delivering the 2026 budget statement before Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025, the Minister said the President was grateful to these groups for working together with government on the increment.
The government approved a 9 percent salary increase for all public sector workers under the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) for the 2026 fiscal year.
In addition, the National Tripartite Committee also agreed to a 9 percent upward adjustment in the national daily minimum wage, moving it from GH₵19.97 to GH₵21.77, effective January 1 to December 31, 2026.
The agreement—signed on November 9, 2025, between the government, represented by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) and the Ministry of Finance (MoF), and Organised Labour—follows successful negotiations aimed at promoting stability and fairness in the public sector.
Dr. Forson, who is also the Acting Defence Minister, said the government remains grateful because the agreement ahead of the budget represents the shared vision of fairness, stability, and productivity.
‘’On behalf of the President, I extend my deepest gratitude to Organised Labour, the Employers Association, and workers of Ghana who worked successfully with government to agree on the National Minimum Wage and Base Pay for 2026 ahead of this budget, representing our shared vision of fairness, stability, and productivity.’’
The 2026 budget, he posited, marks a decisive shift from recovery to transformation, from resilience to stability, and from stability to jobs.
