The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) says it has rescued seven (7) Nigerian nationals allegedly trafficked into the country to engage in prohibited cyber activities.
A statement issued by EOCO indicated that the rescue was carried out after a raid into an alleged cyber fraud ring at Mataheko-Afienya.
The raid was carried out under Operation LIFELINE on Friday, November 14, 2025.
According to EOCO, ten (10) individuals were arrested: three (3) suspects and seven (7) victims, all Nigerian nationals.
The ages of the victims range from 17 to 30 years, the statement revealed.
EOCO said the suspects lured their victims with promises of employment in Ghana but upon their arrival, they subjected them to harsh and exploitative conditions.
They further compelled them to engage in online fraud schemes and prohibited cyber activities, EOCO alleged.
It has therefore encouraged the Ghanaian public to report any suspicious activities to EOCO and other law enforcement agencies.
“EOCO encourages the public to continue using its hotlines to report suspicious activities to the Office and other law enforcement agencies. Landlords are also urged to conduct due diligence when renting out their properties, especially to foreign nationals. Individuals involved in such illegal activities are strongly warned to desist, as the Office remains fully committed to pursuing and apprehending offenders.”
