The Inspector General of Police (GPS) has directed the immediate release of the Queen Mother of Kwahu, following an operation conducted by some officers earlier today.
He has also ordered the Professional Standards Bureau to investigate the circumstances surrounding the operation and sanction any culpable officers.
Security has been intensified in and around Kwahu to ensure the safety and security of the people in the area.
Armed men reportedly dressed in police uniforms, claiming to be from the National Security, allegedly attacked the Palace of the Paramount Chief of the Kwahu Traditional Council at Abene.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early morning of Monday, November 17, 2025, around 4 a.m. Some residents claim to have heard gunshots inside the palace.
The Kwahuhemaa, Nana Adwoa Gyemfua, who was at the palace during the attack, was abducted.
Additionally, the official Toyota Land Cruiser of the Kwahuhene was taken during the raid.
Following this, the IGP has called for a probe into the incident and sanctioned applications where necessary.
