The Efia-Nkwanta Hospital mortuary initially rejected the remains of a 65-year-old man discovered deceased in his room.
The deceased elderly man was found in an advanced state of decomposition, with a liquid dripping from his body.
Reporting on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Ebenezer Manso-Cudjoe stated that the man is believed to have died several days prior at Nkotompo, a suburb in the Western region.
According to Manso-Cudjoe, the pensioner, known as Uncle Kweku or ‘Is Alright’, who was involved in the lotto business, was discovered after a foul smell emanated from his room. It has been reported that no relatives or children of the deceased are known.
Manso-Cudjoe noted that since the deceased rented in the area approximately 45 years ago, no visitors, including women, were known to have visited him.
The deceased was initially sent to the mortuary, but workers claimed the body had decomposed and should be buried.
Following intervention by the Police, the Assembly, and NADMO, the mortuary accepted the body for preservation. Manso-Cudjoe added that residents have requested authorities to disinfect the house to prevent potential infection spread.
