A 40-year-old mother of four, Gladys Mensah, was killed in a tragic accident in Assin Fosu, Central Region, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, around 11:00 a.m.
Details available show that she was crushed to death by a truck.
The Hyundai truck (GR 6146-12) driven by an inexperienced learner, Eric Ackon (34), under the supervision of the driver, Benjamin Kwarfo (26), lost control.
The truck ran over Ms Mensah, who was selling clothes by the roadside near the SDA School at Habitat.
Eyewitnesses reported the truck dragged the victim for several metres before crashing into and damaging a nearby house. Ms Mensah sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at St Francis Xavier Hospital later that day.
Both the learner and the supervising driver have been detained in Assin Fosu to assist with investigations, and the vehicle has been impounded. The deceased’s body is at the St Francis Xavier Hospital mortuary.
Residents expressed sorrow and urged authorities to cordon off the damaged structure, warning it poses a danger to the public.
