Peace Watch Ghana (PWG), a registered non-profit, non-governmental organization, has demanded that the man seen in a viral video assaulting his wife face the full force of the law.
Executive Director of the PWG, Madam Nyonkopa Daniels, stated that the man deserves to be behind bars, describing him as “wicked, irresponsible, and someone capable of causing severe harm.”
Appearing on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Madam Daniels noted that the man’s actions represent a larger pattern of evil being perpetuated against women.
She lamented that many women are suffering in silence, adding that it was a divine intervention that this suspect, who has since been arrested, was captured on video assaulting his wife.
The Police Service arrested the man, identified as John Odartey Lamptey, on Monday, November 17, 2025, at his residence in Ofankor in the Ga East Municipality, after a video of him physically assaulting a woman believed to be his wife went viral.
According to a Police statement, two siblings of the suspect were also arrested for attempting to assault a tenant who they claimed recorded the video.
Madam Daniels called for the man to be immediately arraigned and prosecuted, further advising that the suspect be given psychiatric treatment.
”It is disheartening that the man subjected his wife to this physical assault,” she said. “I suspect he may be suffering from a psychiatric problem and must be given treatment. What he did to the wife was inhumane. A man like you pounced on a woman like this, stripped her naked in the open like this—it was not only criminal but a human rights violation.”
”What kind of wrong did the woman commit that you subject her to this humiliation? The man deserves to be given a fair share of his own medicine. He is a very wicked man,” Madam Daniels concluded.
