The Tamale High Court has ordered a rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election.
The court directed the rerun be held within 30 days from today, Monday, November 24, 2025.
Presiding judge His Lordship Emmanuel Brew Plange delivered the order following a legal challenge filed against the declaration made by the former Member of Parliament (MP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Kpandai, Daniel Nsala Wakpal.
He alleged irregularities in the voting and collation processes, claiming these issues undermined the credibility of the outcome.
He challenged the election of Matthew Nyindam as MP, arguing that the parliamentary election held in the Kpandai constituency on December 7 was invalid.
He argued that there were irregularities and inconsistencies in FORM 8A (Regulation 32(7) and 39(2) Statement of Polls for the Office of Member of Parliament — Pink Sheet) for 41 polling stations out of the 152 polling stations in the constituency.
He asserted that the election was not in compliance with the relevant Public Elections Regulations (C.I 127), specifically Regulation 39, and that this non-compliance fundamentally compromised the election’s outcome.”
He further contended that the “declaration and publication of the parliamentary election results were not in compliance with Regulation 43 of the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (C.I 127), and this non-compliance ultimately invalidated the entire results of the parliamentary elections in the Kpandai constituency.”
He prayed the court to set aside the declared results affecting the 41 polling stations.
He also asked the court to grant “An order directing the respondents to organize a fresh parliamentary election in the 41 specified polling stations, which are a subset of the 152 polling stations within the Kpandai constituency, on a date to be determined by the court.”
The court, after hearing the matter, upheld the petition and ordered the Electoral Commission to organise a new election to determine the rightful winner.
