A 50-year-old store owner, identified only as Amaria, was killed instantly when a truck carrying cement bags crashed into her shop in Kade Zongo in the Eastern Region.
The victim was reportedly struck on Monday, November 24, 2025, just one day before what would have been her 51st birthday.
According to a report on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the store owner had recently returned from visiting a relative admitted to a local hospital when the accident occurred.
A reporter named One Stone stated that the trailer, which was traveling from Adeiso, veered off the road upon reaching the Zongo area and collided directly with Amaria’s shop.
The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
Two other traders who operate a food joint and a fabric shop nearby were reportedly not present at the time of the collision, narrowly escaping injury.
The reporter disclosed that Fire Service personnel who arrived at the scene were not equipped with the necessary tools for extrication. Consequently, residents had to use rudimentary objects, including knives, to cut through the wreckage of the container to remove the victim’s remains.
The tragedy occurred as Amaria’s family was preparing for two significant events: her birthday celebration and her daughter’s wedding ceremony, which was reportedly scheduled for the same day.
In the chaotic aftermath, it has also emerged that an unknown sum of money, kept in the shop which also served as a mobile money (momo) joint, was stolen from the premises.
As a Muslim, Amaria was laid to rest on the same day in accordance with Islamic rites.
