GIS interdicts six officers for verbally assaulting a superior officer

GIS

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has interdicted six officers for gross misconduct. This comes after the six were seen in a viral video verbally assaulting a superior officer.

The superior officer, who identified himself as a Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCO1), was travelling as a passenger on a commercial vehicle when the incident occurred on November 25, 2025, at the Offinso Inland Checkpoint, where the officers were on duty.

A statement issued by the GIS indicated that the behaviour captured in the video, including verbal assault, lack of civility, and open disrespect towards a superior, falls far below the standards expected of personnel.

The conduct of the junior officers was unacceptable and constitutes a clear breach of the Service’s Code of Conduct.

According to GIS, professionalism, respect for authority, and integrity remain core values of the Service, and any conduct undermining these principles will be met with swift and decisive sanctions.

It has therefore apologised for any embarrassment caused to the public and assured citizens of its commitment to upholding high standards of discipline, professionalism, and accountability.
