The Weija Gbawe Municipal Assembly has launched a project to fence all public basic schools in the municipality.
According to the Assembly, this is to help prevent encroachment, ensure pupil safety, and control movement during school hours.
Municipal Chief Executive Felix Odartey Lamptey explained that the project will start with Weija Methodist Basic 1 and 2.
He stated that the initiative aims to provide a secure and conducive learning environment for students.
He described it as a critical intervention to strengthen security and improve the overall quality of education in the municipality.
He said the project would be undertaken by Extol Planners Limited, with a six-month completion timeline.
The project is expected to address long-standing concerns raised by teachers, parents, and community leaders about the safety of pupils and the need for a well-structured school environment.
Commenting on this, the assembly member for the Weija Electoral Area, Hon. Wilfred Ayittey Blankson expressed gratitude to the Municipal Assembly. To him, this would bring a huge relief to the community.
