The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in Bokpaba, a village along the Bimbilla-Yendi stretch of the Eastern Corridor, in connection with alleged kidnapping.
The suspects were arrested through an intelligence-led operation over the weekend. A statement issued by the Ghana Police Service identified the suspects as Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bandi, and Osman Bandi.
The three were arrested out of a syndicate of four, who were reported to have kidnapped a forty-two-year-old man in Wapuli, a community in the Yendi District.

They demanded a ransom of GH¢100,000 from the victim’s family as a condition for his release.
After receiving the information, the Police dispatched a team of five officers from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (RPID) to Wapuli on a surveillance, rescue, and arrest assignment.
According to the Police, the victim was rescued on Friday, December 5, 2025, and the suspects were arrested after an intensive gunfire exchange.

The statement added “The suspects are currently in Police custody and will be arraigned before court. Meanwhile, the fourth suspect is believed to have sustained gunshot wounds and Police is urging the public to assist with relevant information that would lead to his arrest”.
