The Office of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described as false media reports that he (Akufo-Addo) is seeking an audience with President John Dramani Mahama to secure assurances for the safe passage of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
The Office, in a statement in response to a publication by the Herald Newspaper, which has also been punished by several other portals, referred to the story as a fabrication.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, it urged the public to disregard them.
The Office said the former leader was not interested in interfering with the rule of law or the work of agencies responsible for investigating persons of interest.
“The office wishes to state emphatically that this publication is utterly false. It is a total fabrication by the supposed source. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has neither contemplated such a consideration nor expressly or impliedly made any request or representation to President John Dramani Mahama,” the statement said.
The former leader admitted his family connection with the former finance minister but stressed that he will not interfere with the ongoing legal issues against his cousin.
“Hopefully, this sets the record straight on the matter,” the statement concluded.
