The Supreme Court has issued a directive to the Electoral Commission (EC) to halt all proceedings and activities related to the Kpandai parliamentary rerun.
The order remains in effect until the court reaches a final decision on the matter. Consequently, the EC is precluded from proceeding with the December 30, 2025 rerun, as previously ordered by the Tamale High Court.
The court has adjourned proceedings until January 13, 2026, to allow for further deliberation on the issues raised by the parties involved.
Meanwhile, both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are currently engaged in constituency-level campaigning in anticipation of the December 30, 2025 rerun.
Notably, the NPP has criticised the Tamale High Court’s decision to order a rerun, characterising it as a dangerous precedent.
In contrast, the NDC has welcomed the court’s decision, asserting that it vindicates their claims that the initial election was rigged in favor of the NPP.
