Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Dr. Dominic Ayine has announced that Sedinam Tamakloe may potentially face extradition to Ghana to serve out her sentence.
The minister stated that the United States Government has confirmed the completion of the requisite legal procedures. Dr. Ayine made this disclosure at the Government Accountability Series held at the Jubilee House on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
He told journalists that the formal request for her extradition was initiated by the previous Attorney-General and Minister of Justice.
He explained that he recently addressed questions in Parliament regarding the issue, indicating to the House that a formal request for her extradition was submitted by his predecessor in July 2024.
”The extradition proceedings had taken place in the United States, and we are expecting that, barring any appeal by her lawyers, she may very soon be extradited to Ghana to serve her prison term.”
He added that should her lawyers file a court case in opposition, asserting that she should be set free because she was tried in absentia, that would be a matter to be resolved within the Ghanaian court system.
The minister noted that while he has no definitive information regarding the exact date of her arrival, the formal process for the extradition has been completed.
