The Member of Parliament for Adansi
The Member of Parliament for Adansi Akrofuom, Joseph Azumah, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its supporters to respect the independence of the Supreme Court, particularly when rulings don’t favour them.
This comes after the Supreme Court suspended the planned parliamentary rerun election in Kpandai Constituency, initially set for December 30, 2025.
The Apex Court’s decision was in response to a judicial review application filed by NPP parliamentary candidate Matthew Nyindam, challenging a High Court ruling that annulled the 2024 parliamentary results in Kpandai. The Supreme Court found that Nyindam had established a prima facie case, prompting the suspension of the rerun election pending further review.
Speaking to the media at Parliament House, Hon. Azumah emphasised that while the NPP may be celebrating the ruling, they must be prepared to respect the Supreme Court’s decisions, even when they’re unfavourable. He noted that the NDC will continue campaigning in Kpandai, confident in their chances of winning if elections are held.
