The Ghana Museums and Monuments Board (GMMB) has informed the Ghanaian public and tourists that Fort Apollonia (Beyin), Fort St Anthony (Axim), Fort Orange (Sekondi), James Fort (Jamestown) and Ussher Fort (Usshertown) will be temporarily closed.
According to GMMB, the temporal closure is to allow for essential maintenance works, safety assessments, and conservation activities.
The exercise is aimed at preserving the structural integrity and historical value of these important heritage sites.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure the safety and long-term preservation of our national heritage,” the statement added.
