The Ashanti Region is set to benefit from a stable power supply as additional megawatts are slated to be integrated into the national grid upon completion of an ongoing project by AKSA Energy at Awomaso.
This assurance was provided by Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Richard Gyan Mensah, following recent power outages that affected parts of the region, sparking concerns among residents and businesses.
Mr. Mensah extended apologies to residents for the disruptions, citing increased demand and ongoing system adjustments as contributing factors.
During a site visit to inspect progress, he said measures being implemented to enhance power stability, particularly during the festive season.
“As we speak now, we have adequate power to meet demand, even though demand is rising. We do not want to wait for demand to surpass supply, which is why we are consistently planning to add more reliable generation capacity,” he said.
He added that the completion of the AKSA Energy project is expected to enhance power supply in the region and strengthen the overall resilience of the national grid.
