The Ghana Education Service (GES) Management has denounced the alleged theft of school supplies at Awaso STEM Senior High School in the Western North Region.
In a statement, GES reported that it had received notification of the arrest of Benedicta Nyamadi, the school’s matron, and Rachel Kyeremateng, a cook, for allegedly stealing food supplies intended for students.
The Management asserts that it does not tolerate any form of misconduct, abuse of authority, or actions that jeopardize the welfare, nutrition, and wellbeing of students under its supervision.
It emphasised that if the allegations are proven true, the act would be in direct contravention of the Service’s ethical standards, professional conduct, and core values.
The statement added “The matter is currently under investigation by the Ghana Police Service. GES fully supports the ongoing investigations and will cooperate with all relevant state institutions to ensure that due process is followed.
Management assures parents, guardians, and the general public that robust monitoring mechanisms are in place, and where lapses are identified, appropriate sanctions will be applied in accordance with the GES Code of Conduct and relevant laws of Ghana.”
