A renewed chieftaincy dispute has erupted at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, leaving two individuals injured on Sunday, December 28.
In response, security personnel have been deployed to the area to maintain law and order.
Over 50 police officers and other security personnel from the Central East Regional Police Command were stationed in the township to restore calm and take control following the clash between two factions in front of the Gomoa Nyanyano chief’s palace.
According to reports, the incident occurred when one faction proceeded with a planned float, prompting the opposing faction to mobilise and block the main road through the town, culminating in a confrontation.
Security has since been intensified in the area to prevent further disturbances.
