Police arrest suspect “Cyborg” following viral El-Wak Stadium shooting video

The Cyber Vetting Team at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters has arrested a suspect seen in a viral video discharging a firearm at a public event at the El-Wak Stadium, Accra.

The incident, which occurred on 28th December 2025, sparked public concern, with many Ghanaians demanding the arrest of the man seen in the video.

A statement issued by the Police said the suspect has been identified as Abubakari Sadick, popularly known as “Cyborg.”

He was arrested on 29th December 2025 at Adenta for possession and discharging of a firearm.

According to the Police, the weapon, a Derya MK-12 firearm with registration number 22-GHA-1162, has been retrieved and secured as evidence.

The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations and will be put before the court to face justice.

“The Ghana Police service wishes to caution the general public that possessing a registered firearm does not give the holder the right to discharge it indiscriminately. Firearms licenses can be revoked and the individual can be charged accordingly,” the statement, which was signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said.
