Founder and General Overseer of the Perez Chapel Archbishop Charles Agyinasare has stated that the removal of Madam Gertrude Esaaba Torkornoo underscores the need for leaders who are appointed to serve in any capacity to do so with integrity.
Delivering a sermon at the 2025 31 Watch Service of Prophecy of Power, the man of God stated that it was important that leaders appointed do not engage in acts that undermine their offices.
“The controversy surrounding the suspension of the Chief Justice reminded us again of the urgent need for truth, justice and integrity in public life.”
He said the judiciary must gain respect and judge righteously because it is perceived to be unrighteous.
Archbishop Charles Agyinasare added that the judiciary must change this perception in 2026 to ensure that the Ghanaian public gains more trust in its work.
To him, there must be a moral turnaround within the judiciary where officials discharge their duties with integrity.
Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo was removed from office by President John Dramani Mahama on September 1, 2025, following an inquiry that found her guilty of misusing public funds and administrative misconduct.
She was suspended in April 2025 and later challenged the decision in court, alleging procedural errors and human rights violations, taking her case to the Ghanaian High Court and then the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice.
