A 28-year-old man, Benjamin Kwabena, also known as Wofa Atta, has received an 18-year prison sentence for sexually abusing three young siblings at Ahenema Kokoben near Trede.
The convict allegedly exploited the friendship between his elder sister and the victims’ mother, Mary Aboagye, a 46-year-old charcoal seller, to gain access to the children.
According to reports, Benjamin Kwabena would regularly visit the victims’ home, offering them rides on his bicycle, and used these visits to establish a rapport with the children, luring them to his home.
Prosecution stated that he sexually abused the first victim on three occasions, the second victim twice, and the third victim once.
The abuse was discovered when the youngest child warned her brother not to follow the accused, prompting the child to reveal the misconduct to their mother, which led to Benjamin Kwabena’s arrest.
