The Chief of Tarkoratwene/Maame Krobo Junction in the Afram Plains South, Nana Asiedu Baah II, has issued a directive ordering Fulani herdsmen operating within the area to vacate the community forthwith.
This decision follows persistent complaints regarding the destruction of farm produce by their cattle.
The Chief’s directive was issued subsequent to concerns raised by farmers in Tarkoratwene, popularly known as Maame Krobo Junction, about the ongoing invasion of their farmlands by cattle, resulting in the destruction of crops including maize, cassava, plantain, and vegetables.
This situation has led to heightened tension between farmers and herdsmen, posing a threat to peace and security within the community.
Despite previous warnings and engagements with the herdsmen, farm destruction has continued unabated, prompting Nana Asiedu Baah II to direct the Fulani herdsmen to relocate from the area immediately.
This measure aims to prevent potential clashes between the farmers and herdsmen.
The Chief has also counseled residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
