A man, believed to be in his late 30s, has been apprehended by the Awutu Jei-Krodua District Police Command for allegedly killing his girlfriend with a concrete block at Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.
The deceased, identified as Sister Yaa, was discovered lifeless in a pool of blood with a concrete block placed on her face, reportedly after she had committed the act. It is not clear in relation to the event; hence, the rephrase is ‘after the incident’.
According to police sources, the suspect, a resident of the Oboman community in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, had visited his girlfriend for an overnight stay but allegedly killed her after she purportedly denied him sexual intimacy.
The victim is said to have explained to the suspect that she was unwell and could not engage in any sexual activity.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect had initially inflicted cutlass wounds on the deceased’s face before proceeding to smash her head with the concrete block.
The suspect resisted, became violent, and brandished a machete, causing injuries to the victim, who cried out for help and fled the scene.
The suspect followed, and in a tragic turn of events, the victim fell, and the suspect allegedly retrieved a concrete block, using it to deliver a fatal blow to the victim.
