The Member of Parliament for Suhum, Hon. Frank Asiedu Bekoe, has sparked intense debate by claiming that former President John Mahama is being influenced by a “gay activist friend,” Andy Solomon, to introduce LGBTQI+ content into Ghana’s educational curriculum.
Speaking on the matter, Hon. Bekoe alleged that the Mahama administration is actively pushing an agenda that undermines Ghana’s core cultural values.
“The president is a close friend of a gay activist, walking and sleeping with guy activists,” he stated.
He further warned that if the public does not oppose these developments, the moral foundation of the country’s future leaders will be severely compromised.
Hon. Bekoe directed sharp criticism toward the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA). He demanded the immediate dismissal of the Director-General, accusing the office of negligence and complicity in the promotion of LGBTQI+ materials.
“The president must fire the NaCCA boss if he’s innocent,” he challenged, asserting that a failure to act would directly implicate the President in the controversy.
The MP urged key stakeholders—including religious leaders and civil society organizations—to flatly reject any inclusion of LGBTQI+ content in schools, labeling it “unacceptable” in Ghanaian society.
He emphasised that the nation must remain steadfast against foreign influences and unite against NaCCA’s recent directives.
Hon. Bekoe criticised the former President for what he views as a reversal of his previous stance on the issue.
He noted that many Ghanaians are surprised by these current actions, which come amid growing public concern over educational materials allegedly containing LGBTQI+ themes.
