Madam Nyonkopa Daniels, the Executive Director of Peace Watch Ghana, has described the current treatment of Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng as deeply unfortunate. She characterised the Professor as not only a distinguished politician but a celebrated heart surgeon who has served his nation with immense dedication.
While acknowledging his brilliance, Madam Daniels expressed grave concern that Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s decision to associate with partisan politics has served to undermine his
legacy and years of hard work.
She noted that while the late former President Jerry John Rawlings originally discovered him and brought him to the forefront, his subsequent immersion in partisan politics—specifically his association with the NPP—gradually led him to what she described as a “slaughterhouse.”
“I feel sad for this man and what he is currently going through,” she stated. “He is a celebrated heart surgeon who is well-respected for his accomplishments in the medical field. He is an honorable man, but the moment he engaged in partisan politics, it drew him toward self-destruction. I predicted this downfall the moment he got closer to partisan politics.”
Speaking with host Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline (Rainbow Radio 87.5FM), Madam Daniels argued that certain personalities are simply not built for the friction of partisan politics, and the medical professor is one of them.
She suggested that he would have been better served remaining a nationalist—an expert who serves his country regardless of which political party is in office.
According to Madam Daniels, partisan politics often breeds disrespect and disregard for authority, the erosion of personal dignity and the unnecessary “slaughtering” of professional reputations.
Madam Daniels concluded by stating that had the Professor remained in public practice, he would have preserved his dignity and high standing. She believes he should have focused on mobilizing men and women of his caliber to serve Ghana within their specific fields of expertise.
“I feel so sad for him,” she remarked. “A man of his grace and celebrated record deserves better than the treatment he is currently receiving.”
