Veteran Minister and father of the Builsa South MP to be laid to rest on January 31

The Apaak family has officially announced the funeral arrangements for the late Pastor John Azundem Apaak, a respected religious leader and father of Dr Clement Abas Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South and Deputy Minister for Education.

Pastor Apaak passed away on November 4, 2025, at the age of 81.

He is remembered as a man of deep faith who dedicated over eight decades of his life to the service of his community, his church, and the nation.

In a statement released by Dr Clement Apaak on behalf of the family, the funeral rites are scheduled to take place over the final weekend of January 2026.

The final journey for the late patriarch will begin in Bolgatanga before proceeding to his ancestral home for interment.

The late man of God will be laid in state on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the GNAT Hall, Bolgatanga.

Well-wishers and associates are invited to file past the body between 7:00 am and 8:30 am.

The statement said a formal memorial service will follow immediately at the same venue starting at 9:00 am.

Following the service, Pastor Apaak will be taken to the Family House in Dorninga, Builsa South, for burial.

The prescribed attire for Saturday is black and white.

A final celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Deeper Life Bible Church, Sawaba, Bolgatanga, at 8:00 am.

Attendees are requested to wear all white.

The passing of Pastor John Azundem Apaak marks the end of an era for the Builsa South community.

Described by his family as a pillar of strength, his life was defined by a commitment to the ministry and the moral upbringing of his children, including Dr Clement Apaak, who has become a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics and education.

“His passing is a profound loss to our family and all who were touched by his life,” Dr Apaak noted in the family statement.

The family has extended an open invitation to friends, colleagues, and the general public to join them in honouring a life well-lived.

PASTOR JOHN AZUNDEM APAAK GOES HOME ON 31st JANUARY 2026.

On behalf of the APAAK family and my siblings, I wish to inform friends, associates, and the public that our late father, Pastor John Azundem Apaak, will be laid to rest on Saturday, the 31st of January 2026.

Our father, the late Pastor John Azundem Apaak, aged 81, was called to eternal rest on the 4th of November 2025 after a life of dedicated service, faith, and commitment to his family, community, church, and the nation. His passing is a profound loss to our family and all who were touched by his life.

The funeral arrangements are as follows:

Lying in State and Filing Past:

Saturday, 31st January 2026

Time: 7:00 am – 8:30 am

Venue: GNAT Hall, Bolgatanga

Memorial and Burial Service:

Saturday, 31st January 2026

Time: 9:00 am

Venue: GNAT Hall, Bolgatanga

Interment:

Family House, Dorninga, Builsa South

Attire: Black and White

Thanksgiving Service:

Sunday, 1st February 2026

Time: 8:00 am

Venue: Deeper Life Bible Church, Sawaba, Bolgatanga

Attire: All White
