The Adentan Circuit Court One has remanded
47-year-old Prince Edwin Brem into police custody following his alleged involvement in high-profile fraudulent activities.
Brem, a businessman and employee of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), is at the center of a legal battle involving the alleged illicit acquisition of a maritime vessel.
The suspect was brought before the court in connection with the fraudulent acquisition of the MV Ebenever, a tugboat valued at approximately US$500,000 (roughly GH¢5.44 million).
The prosecution has leveled several serious charges against him, including defrauding by false pretenses and forgery of official stamps.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Brem exploited his position at the GPHA to bolster his credibility. He allegedly misappropriated the authority’s name and reputation to deceive unsuspecting victims, often falsely presenting himself as a high-ranking government official authorized to broker maritime deals.
Since the news of his arrest broke, the scale of the alleged scam appears to be widening.
According to reports gathered Rainbowradioonline.com, several additional individuals have come forward to the Adentan Police Station, claiming to have been defrauded by the suspect in separate incidents.
Members of the public who fell victim to the scheme have expressed their appreciation to the Adentan Police Service for their diligence and the swift commencement of the prosecution process.
The court has ordered that Prince Edwin Brem remain in custody to allow for further investigations as more victims emerge.
He is scheduled to reappear in court on January 29, 2026.
