The Ghana Education Service (GES) has indicated that the feeding incident at Savelugu Senior High School (SHS) is an isolated case.
A statement issued by the GES explained that the incident does not reflect the overall standard of student feeding nationwide.
The statement was issued in response to a video circulating on social media about an alleged poor food situation at the school.
GES noted that it takes the quality of student meals very seriously, noting that mismanagement of the feeding programme is a serious offence that undermines the government’s commitment to enhancing student welfare.
According to GES, student feeding across the country has generally improved, citing effective collaboration between Buffer Stock and school heads.
“Management wishes to assure parents and the public that the incident at Savelugu SHS is an isolated case,” the statement said.
It added that the monitoring team will increase unannounced visits to schools to ensure compliance with feeding standards and urged school heads and stakeholders to report any challenges promptly for timely intervention.
