The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has successfully carried out a raid in Budumburam and its surrounding communities in the Gomoa East Municipal of the Central Region, as part of its ongoing anti-narcotics exercise campaign.
The operation, conducted on Friday, 16 January 2026, aligns with NACOC’s nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse.
According to the Commission, the exercise resulted in the seizure of various illicit drugs and the arrest of individuals involved in the trade. A 32-year-old woman, identified as Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei, also known as ‘Mother’, who is described by opinion leaders as a key figure in the local drug trade, was apprehended.

The suspect, previously elusive, had been under surveillance by NACOC’s intelligence team due to her alleged involvement in illicit drug trafficking activities.
The Commission had received several complaints regarding the suspect’s nefarious activities, which led to her arrest.
NACOC officials confiscated quantities of suspected cannabis, tramadol, and other controlled substances, along with items linked to drug peddling.

The Commission expressed gratitude to the public for their support towards its ongoing exercise.
“NACOC wishes to assure the general public of its commitment to ensure that Ghana becomes a drug-free nation.
The public is also assured that suspects involved in this raid will be processed for court in accordance with the law.”
