The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has contained a commercial fire at Madina Zongo Junction.
A statement issued by the Service said the fire was brought under control within 45 minutes. The outbreak involved three (3) shops located on the ground floor of a one-storey building.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, and was successfully contained by a combined team from the Madina and Legon Fire Stations. No casualties were recorded.
The GNFS reported receiving a distress call at 1641 hours, with the Madina Fire Station arriving swiftly at 1643 hours.
”The fire was brought under control at 1700 hours and finally extinguished at 1725 hours.”

The Service revealed that one (1) shop and its contents were completely destroyed, while two (2) other shops and their contents were partially affected. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
”The rapid and professional response of the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading and saved several adjoining buildings, including a forex bureau, from the fire ruins.”
