The Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) have announced a temporary load management schedule for Sunyani.
The planned exercise is due to a breakdown of GRIDCo’s power transformer.
A statement jointly issued by the two state institutions on January 21, 2026, stated that the schedule is intended to manage electricity demand until the fault is repaired and both transformers are restored to normal operation.
The load management plan affects three groups of areas as follows:
Group 1: Nana Bosoma Market, Newtown, Estate, Baakoniaba, Asufufu, Wawasua, Nanketwa, Municipal, Town Centre, Zinco, Airport, part of UENR, St Mary’s, and surrounding communities.
Group 2: Abesim Estate, Tanoso, Yamfo, Susuanso, GWCL, Abesim, Mayfair, Nkwabeng North, Odumase, Pastoral Penkwase, Syn. NMTC, and surrounding communities.
Group 3: Nimpong, STU, GETfund, Magazine, SUSEC, Dr Berko, St James, Glamossay, Nkrankrom, Fiapre, Dumasua, Mantukwa, Ayakomaso, Nsoatre, and surrounding communities.

- 6AM–2PM: Group 2
- 2PM–10PM: Group 1
- 10PM–6AM: Group 3
Day 2 (January 22, 2026)

They apologised to the affected areas for the inconvenience caused and assured customers that efforts are underway to restore normal power supply as soon as possible.
