The Paramount Chief of Prestea Himan, Nana Nteboah Prah IV, has issued an urgent appeal to the government to rehabilitate the deteriorated Bogoso-Prestea road.
He expressed deep concern that the road’s deplorable condition has caused immense hardship to residents for over 14 years. Despite numerous changes in administration, the chief noted that the road’s condition remains unsatisfactory, leaving the people of Prestea feeling overlooked and abandoned.
Describing the situation as perilous, he highlighted the prevalence of accidents, armed robbery, excessive dust, and exorbitant transport fares, which have become a daily challenge for commuters and traders.
During a press conference in Prestea, Nana Nteboah Prah IV characterized the road as hazardous, emphasizing that its poor state continues to impede economic activities in the area.
He emphasised that road rehabilitation would significantly enhance socio-economic development in the Western Region by facilitating the movement of goods and people, reducing travel time, and improving security along the route.

Furthermore, the chief lamented that businesses are struggling, drivers are imposing high charges due to frequent breakdowns, and residents are vulnerable to health risks posed by dust during the dry season.
Consequently, Nana Nteboah Prah IV urged the government to include the area in the proposed “Big Push” infrastructure initiative, stressing that the people of Prestea have endured sufficient hardship.
He cautioned that further delays in repairing the road could result in additional avoidable fatalities, while appealing to stakeholders and authorities to address the situation as a national emergency.
