Nana Kwadwo Agyei Yeboah, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications and Elections Directorate popularly known as “Nana Kay”, has issued a stern warning to individuals or groups planning to cause mayhem during the January 31 presidential primary.
He urged those plotting trouble to rescind their plans or prepare to face the full rigors of the law. Nana Kay’s comments were a direct response to threats issued by approximately 280 suspended party delegates in the Agona West constituency.
At a press conference held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, these aggrieved delegates expressed dissatisfaction with the party leadership regarding their suspension.
They demanded immediate reinstatement before the January 31 primary, threatening to cause disturbances if their demands were not met. Addressing these concerns, Nana Kay noted that the National Leadership is aware of the suspensions and is currently handling the matter.
However, he emphasised that no form of violence would be tolerated during the election.
“We have unexpected occurrences that sometimes happen at events like this, and then we have those who intentionally plot to cause mayhem,” the aspiring national organiser stated. “To those who have plotted mayhem, we want them to know that the police will deal with them. We have full trust that the police will handle anyone with bad intentions or plans to cause harm.”
Nana Kay clarified the party’s stance on security personnel for the primary.
He revealed that while the party has gathered information regarding a planned deployment of National Security officers, the NPP prefers to rely solely on the Ghana Police Service.
“This is not a national security exercise; this is purely a political party activity,” he explained. “We have engaged the Police Service to provide security, and they have assured us of maximum protection by deploying sufficient personnel. We trust them to do a professional job, and therefore, we do not require the presence of National Security.”
