Ken Agyapong camp raises alarm over unmarked vehicles transporting ballot papers.

The campaign team for New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong has issued a security alert, alleging the use of unauthorised vehicles to transport ballot papers ahead of tomorrow’s crucial internal primaries.

In a press release issued Friday and signed by Dr Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, the campaign’s Spokesperson for Security and Intelligence, the team claimed they have identified lapses in the logistics chain of the Electoral Commission (EC).

According to the statement, intelligence gathered on the ground suggests that the EC is struggling with a shortage of official vehicles to move materials to all 276 constituencies.

While the EC has reportedly resorted to using private vehicles marked with official stickers and police escorts to bridge the gap, the Agyapong camp alleges that “isolated cases” of ballot papers being transferred in unmarked, unapproved vehicles have been spotted.

These incidents are said to have occurred in the Ashanti, Western, and Greater Accra regions.

”We call for extreme vigilance from the Ghana Police Service and the Electoral Commission,” the statement read, emphasising that the integrity of the election depends on following established protocols.

The campaign also addressed the circulation of “old videos” from the 2023 presidential primaries on social media.

The statement characterised the videos as a calculated attempt to cause disaffection toward candidates and urged party stakeholders to refrain from “intimidation tactics”.

”This is an internal contest of democracy within the New Patriotic Party. Delegates must be free to choose their preferred candidate without any form of interference,” the release stated.
