A tragic incident occurred at Tech Junction in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, resulting in the death of a ‘trotro mate’.
The incident reportedly happened when the trotro mate jumped out of a moving commercial vehicle to secure a spot for the next available load at the station.
Unfortunately, he slipped and fell under the wheels of the vehicle.
According to eyewitness Madam Ellen, the situation quickly turned fatal.
She recounted that the trotro knocked the victim down, and before he could regain his footing, another commercial vehicle, loading passengers behind, ran over him.
The sequence of events was described as follows: the mate jumped out of the moving vehicle, was hit by his own vehicle, and then another vehicle ran over him as he attempted to get up.
The victim was rushed to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations into the incident have been initiated by the police to determine the full circumstances surrounding the accident.
