The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has requested that the government provide the Ghana Police Service with sufficient barricades to enhance election security across the nation.
He made this request during a media interview following his tour of the YMCA polling centre in the Korle Klottey Constituency, where the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary is underway.
The IGP emphasised that enhanced barricading is crucial for maintaining order and implementing effective crowd control measures at polling centres.

“When you have barricades, it makes the provision of security very easy. This is another way we have to go through to make sure that the government will continue to procure more barricades to protect people and also control crowds very easily,” he said.
Meanwhile, he has commended his officers for their dedication and professionalism towards the exercise.
He called on delegates to cooperate with the police to guarantee a peaceful and orderly election process.
