The government plans to rename Kotoka International Airport as Accra International Airport, the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, has revealed.
He made this known while addressing journalists ahead of the first sitting of the Second Session of the 9th Parliament.
He said the decision to rename the airport forms part of broader efforts to reflect Ghana’s democratic values and national identity in public institutions.

“The government intends to rename Kotoka International Airport to Accra International Airport,” the Majority Leader said, adding that a bill would be presented to Parliament in line with established procedures.
According to him, the move to rename the airport must be done in accordance with the law and guided by the will of the people.
