After extensive debate, the 24-Hour Economy & Accelerated Export Development Authority Bill 2025 has been read for a third time and passed by the House.
The objective of the Bill is to establish the 24-Hour Economy Authority to ensure the integrated, sustainable transformation of national systems for economic production, supply chain, marketing and labour power development and to provide for related matters.
The Majority Leader in Parliament after the passage, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, has hailed the passage of the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill, describing it as a significant milestone.
Speaking to the media immediately after the bill’s passage, Ayariga said the move fulfils a major campaign promise of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“This is a proud moment for us. The bill paves the way for the expedited implementation of the 24-hour economy policy, which will boost economic growth and create jobs,” Ayariga said.
He said the policy aims to modernise and restructure the economy, making Ghana a more attractive destination for investment.
Mahama Ayariga added that the NDC is committed to delivering on its manifesto promises and is making steady progress.
“We promise and we deliver. This is another step towards transforming Ghana’s economy,” he stated.
The bill will now be forwarded to the President for assent. Once signed, it will establish the 24-Hour Economy Authority, responsible for overseeing the implementation of the policy.
