According to available details, the courts will prioritise cases involving cybercrime, illegal mining (galamsey), human trafficking, and cross-border crimes.

This initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance justice delivery and efficiently manage high-risk and high-volume cases.

As per a circular issued by the Chief Justice on February 5, 2026, and disseminated to all court levels, including judges, magistrates, departmental heads, and regional administrators, High Court offices will operate from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays.

“By virtue of the powers conferred on me by Rule 3(1) of Order 79 of the High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2004 (CI 47), I hereby direct that the offices of the High Court shall be open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays,” the CJ stated.

The Chief Justice issued the directive in line with

Order 79 Rule (3) sub-rule (1) of CI47, which states

“The offices of the Court shall, subject to subrule (2), be open to the public on every day of the year for such hours as the Chief Justice shall direct.”

High Courts will now operate from 8:00am to 6:30pm starting February 9, 2026.
