The Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has announced an emergency social intervention fund to support cocoa farmers in his constituency who are struggling with hardship.
Speaking to chiefs and residents of the constituency, Hon. Acquah revealed that he was moved by the numerous appeals from farmers during his recent visit to the constituency. “There have been several appeals to me on the hardships these farmers are going through since I came to the constituency this weekend,” he said.

The farmers say months of delayed payments have plunged them into severe financial hardship, affecting their ability to cater to basic needs, including healthcare and school fees.
As the wait continues for the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) and government to find a lasting solution to the challenges facing cocoa farmers, Hon Acquah has pledged to use a significant portion of his common fund, supplemented by personal resources, to provide immediate relief to the farmers.
The MP plans to work with purchasing clerks to pay a percentage of the cocoa beans awaiting payment and has assured that the support will be refunded when the government eventually pays, based on guarantees from the clerks.
