A prominent member of Arise Ghana, Listowel Nana Kusi-Poku, has formally requested President John Dramani Mahama to remove the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
The petition was submitted on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Listowel Nana Kusi-Poku has consistently expressed concerns about the competence of Dr. Randy Abbey, citing his lack of expertise in the cocoa sector.
He acknowledged Dr. Abbey’s exceptional skills as a football administrator but emphasised that these qualities do not translate to leadership in the cocoa industry.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Listowel Nana Kusi-Poku stressed that the dismissal should be immediate, citing the severity of challenges facing the cocoa sector, which he believes could jeopardize the government’s prospects.
He further accused the CEO of arrogance, misplaced priorities, and using intimidation tactics against others.
He wrote “Today, I officially filed a petition with the Office of the President requesting the immediate removal of Dr. Ransford Annetey Abbey, CEO of COCOBOD from office. This action follows extensive evidence of poor leadership choices, arrogance, intimidation tactics, incompetence, misplaced priorities, etc. which have brought Cocobod into disrepute.
Good Governance Advocacy Group Ghana (GGAGG) calls on H. E John Dramani Mahama to act swiftly in the public interest. Read the full petition here later please.
Yours in service to God and Ghana, our motherland,
Listowell”
