Officials from the Suhum and Nsawam Police Commands have launched a joint investigation into a fatal fuel tanker explosion that occurred at Ntoaso on the Accra-Kumasi Highway during the early hours of Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Preliminary reports indicate the disaster was triggered by a collision on the Nsawam-Accra stretch, with the resulting impact igniting a massive blaze that quickly escalated into a violent explosion.

The scale of the inferno was devastating, completely consuming five cars and five motorbikes.
Current reports from the scene suggest the fire claimed at least three lives, with the victims tragically burnt beyond recognition. In total, the blaze impacted at least seven vehicles as it spread across the highway.
Emergency responders, including personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, were deployed to the site to battle the flames and prevent further destruction.
Meanwhile, staff from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and other rescue operators remain on-site to assess the charred wreckage and coordinate ongoing recovery efforts.
