The Eastern Regional Police Command has successfully apprehended two individuals in connection with a violent robbery incident at Sibakon Down, near Comet Estate, which resulted in the death of one accomplice and trauma for the victim.
According to reports, on January 18, 2026, two men hired an okada rider, Muntari Zakari, to travel from Kwabenya to Sibakon Hospital. Upon arrival, the suspects attacked Zakari with a locally-made pistol and a stone, robbing him of his iPhone 13 Pro and attempting to seize his unregistered Royal motorbike.

The victim’s alarm prompted nearby residents to intervene, leading to the lynching of one of the robbers by an angry mob, while the other escaped with the stolen phone.
Following an extensive investigation, the Regional Police Intelligence Department tracked the surviving suspect, Kwabla Egblorgbe Gadoglo Mohammed, alias Moha, 31, to a hideout in Afienya, where he was arrested on February 13.
A search of his Abokobi residence uncovered several tools, including a hacksaw, cutlass, jackknife, and three mobile phones.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Kwame Accolor, alias Small Kidi, 37, in Anyako, Volta Region, who allegedly purchased the stolen iPhone 13 Pro for GH₵800.00.
Both suspects have appeared in court, with Mohammed pleading guilty to robbery and awaiting sentencing scheduled for March 10, 2026.
The Police Command affirmed its commitment to enhancing intelligence-led operations to ensure public safety and is working to retrieve the weapon used in the attack.
