President John Dramani Mahama visited survivors of the Burkina Faso terrorist attack at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
Accompanied by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, President Mahama extended his commiserations to the survivors and assured them that the government would cover their medical expenses.
The survivors, who were among a group of Ghanaian tomato traders traveling on a truck that was ambushed by armed assailants, were subjected to unprovoked gunfire and had their vehicle set ablaze.
The victims of the attack, which resulted in fatalities, were burnt beyond recognition and have since been laid to rest.
Upon landing in Accra from an official engagement in Takoradi, the President proceeded directly to the hospital to gather firsthand information about the tragic incident.
A total of eight fatalities have been confirmed, while those who survived the attack were airlifted to Ghana.
The survivors, who were airlifted home by the Ghana Armed Forces, are currently receiving counseling and medical treatment.
