The Tema Regional Police Command has successfully intercepted a substantial quantity of suspected narcotics following a targeted operation at Sege Akpla Manya in the Greater Accra Region.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of Sunday, February 15, resulted in the seizure of a Sinotruck Tipper Truck (registration GN 993-14) carrying 3,009 slabs of plant material suspected to be cannabis.

According to the police, the illicit substances were cleverly concealed within fertilizer sacks.
The driver of the vehicle escaped upon sighting the police and remains at large.
In a subsequent development, two individuals, Victor Asigbey, 40, and Peter Asigbey, 35, were arrested at the Regional CID Office in Tema after they allegedly attempted to bribe police officers with GH₵150,000 in cash to secure the release of the impounded truck and its contents.

The police confiscated the cash as evidence and took the suspects into custody.
They are scheduled to appear in court on February 18.
According to a statement signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs for the Tema Region, the Command reiterated its commitment to combating drug-related crimes and upholding high standards of integrity within the force.
